EcoBale is a lightweight breakwater for reducing waves, trapping and collecting sediments and is durable enough to withstand high energy environments.
The cylindrical EcoBale has the advantage of having an open structure while retaining high tensile and tear strength. The entire EcoBale is encapsulated in nylon netting in order to maintain the cylindrical shape and prevent unraveling. Foam spikes create hardening and structural stability while polyurea coating provides durability, ultraviolet (UV) protection, and visability.
HOW IT WORKS
The high tensile and shear strength of the Ecobale matrix allows for use as a breakwater structure that dissipates wave energy along high energy corridors of shoreline. In addition, the open structure of the matrix allows for the collection of sediments. This facilitates the growth of natural levees, vegetation, and ecological habitats.
LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN-LESS COSTLY DEPLOYMENT
The lightweight design enables maximum unit deployment during transport and minimal effect on barge draft. This eliminates the need for dredging shallow areas for access. The lightweight design not only reduces the number of material transport trips, but also lessens logistical delays.
With 96% void space, the open cell design of the EcoBale provides wave dissipation and collection of entrained sediments.
